Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is used to address various skin concerns on the face and body via collagen production, resulting in radiant, youthful-looking skin that is more even in tone and texture.
How Does Micro-needling Work?
For this procedure, a Rotary pen device with a medical-grade disposable needle tip is used. This needle tip houses small, sterile surgical needles that puncture the skin to create controlled "micro-channels". The body's healing response triggers the body to fill these microchannels with collagen naturally found in the body.
Some skin concerns, such as acne scarring and other types of scars such as post-surgical scarring, may require more aggressive treatments and possible combinations of treatments such as peels to achieve a more desirable response.
What skin concerns can Micro-needling treat?
Microneedling is remarkably effective for improving the appearance of:
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Mild Skin Laxity
Large Pore Size
Uneven Tone and Texture
Does Microneedling hurt?
Prior to the procedure, "BLT" a triple-acting topical anesthetic is applied. Many of my clients are surprised to find that the procedure is not at all painful...including those who experience needle anxiety.
How many sessions do I need?
I get this question a lot!! Sessions vary from person to person and usually are dependent upon a variety of client issues and skin concerns being addressed. These include age, health, lifestyle, medication and product use, etc. Generally speaking, most patients require 3-6 sessions and will see gradual, subtle results after each session.
